THE INSPIRATION FOR LOVE WITHOUT REASON
Philip Mathews is a dynamic young speaker from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Philip’s story begins before he was born to Santhosh and Susan Mathews, with the initial diagnosis indicating Philip would be born dead. However, in answer to prayer, Philip miraculously was born alive.
Philip was diagnosed with Goldenhar Syndrome and his parents were told he would be mentally and developmentally delayed with poor social and cognitive skills. Therefore, he was placed in Early Intervention and attended Siskin Children’s Institute until age six. He graduated from Westview Elementary School and currently attends the McCallie School.
Philip overcame many physical, spiritual and emotional hurdles in life. He has been through 23 surgeries and procedures. Yet, his resilient and encouraging attitude has left a lasting impact on many. Philip’s speaking engagements have taken him to many parts of the world including the United States, Canada, India, Trinidad, Zimbabwe, and the Middle East. Philip has been interviewed on radio and major TV stations.
Today Philip serves as an advocate for those born with facial deformities by promoting the good work of Love Without Reason, a nonprofit organization that provides free craniofacial surgery for the poor in developing countries. He has been invited as a motivational speaker to various schools, churches and conferences. He also boldly shares the pro-life message that every life and every child has value!
