I've made so many comments about Philip and his breathing patterns, you might be short of breath yourself! :)
The truth is whether Philip wore a CPAP, a BIPAP, or oxygen by nasal cannula, nothing would allow him to fully rest without any breathing issues consistently on a nightly basis. Some nights,"the mask" would work well. Other nights, it would not. If Philip was congested or sick, the night was guaranteed to be restless and uncomfortable for all of us. :(
What has changed over the last 3 months is that Philip has been resting a little better through the night. When he wakes up in the morning, he whistles and sings (and yells at his siblings to catch the school bus) without any sign of being tired, as he normally would. He would normally fall asleep on the drive to school. But over the last few months, this has changed also. He is wide awake.
When he sleeps at night, he does not toss and turn all night long. His bedsheets are not all over the place untucked from the mattress, as they were a few months ago on a nightly basis. When he was sick about 3 weeks ago with a cough and congestion, I thought it would be a good test for me to watch and see how he fares through the night. I could not believe how well he slept even with a cold. After Santhosh returned from India, he immediately noticed the changes in Philip's breathing while he sleeps.
As it says in Isaiah 61, He gives beauty for ashes, the oil of gladness for mourning. He has turned our mourning into dancing.
People, I believe this is only the beginning. The healing has begun from inside, to the outside. Be watching for a blog in the near future with a picture of a straight spine.. We will see the before and after of Philip's scoliosis.
My God is in the business of creating something out of NOTHING. Nothing is impossible with Him.
God bless you all!
