On the LWR mission to Zimbabwe in June 2017, members of the team had a chance encounter with Apostle Peter Chacha while stretching their legs and walking through the airplane. Several conversations over the next few months built a relationship that led to Santhosh's first visit to Kenya in November 2017.
The Kenyan health ministry, hospital officials, and network of parents all asked Santhosh the same question: What can we do to make Kenya cleft-free? The northern regions of Kenya are in desperate straits with no health care resources, and extreme poverty. The human slave trade is active in Kenya, and these economic situations make children born with facial birth defects ripe prey to the traffickers.
LWR's team will be arriving July 2018 to begin the first medical mission in Kenya. With the help of the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, the patients from all over Kenya will be screened, cleared and scheduled for surgery over the span of 5 days.
